I take a bus to and from school most days of the week, which takes three hours, there and back. Today, I took the bus home. (My mom took me with her to work, and I took other means of transportation to get to school, which is a lot quicker and more convenient.) Anyway. For some reason, I was thinking about my Archaeology class and how I'm going to study for the final. For the previous two midterms, I made study guides...Well, for the first midterm I made a study guide; I failed at making a second one. And then I realized why I didn't make a second study guide for my second midterm: it was because of the pen!
Ok, yeah, I realize that this might not make sense at first, but hear me out.
You know how pens sometimes suck at being pens? For example, you reach for a pen in a pen holder, start to write, and it doesn't write=ink is not coming out of the pen. Therefore, you take another pen from the same pen holder to find that, again, no ink is coming out of the writing utensil. This goes on for the next few pens that you touch, UNTIL you find a pen that works. You're saying, "Hallelujah, thank God," or whatever and theeeeeen, it starts to run out. You know, when the ink starts to get streaky right before it runs out. Yup, you know what I'm talking about.
Well, that streakiness happened with me when I was writing the study guide for my second midterm, EXCEPT the pen wasn't going to run out! The ink cartridge was, and still is (because it's still in my pencil case), completely full. There was no way that I was going to write an entire three, double-sided study guide with a streaky blue pen.
Go find another blue pen then, you say. Are you kidding? When you start writing a paper or a journal entry or whatever you're doing with that pen, and you do so for a page and a half, you start to not want to use the pen, and lose the motivation to find another one.
Result of the story, I didn't finish the study guide. Ironically, I did better on my second midterm than I did on my first.
Moral of the story...Well, I don't usually do morals, so take from this blog what you will :)
Baha! We both have blogs about pens! =D
